How The Best Song Are Successful for Generations

Whassup Peeps,

I came downstairs a few minutes ago to find my 8-year old daughter singing "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson. She didn't know I was listening but all I can think of was "Good job Mike! You really made a classic!"

Thriller came out when I was 11 or 12 years old. I remember staying up at night watching the late night video shows hoping to catch the long version of Thriller. That time is long gone but it is re-lived every time someone hears the song and definitely every Halloween.

Anyway I just wanted to say you songwriters use this song as a standard because it truly is an example of how to make a song that will stand the test of time.

R.I.P. Micheal Jackson

P.S. As I was typing this, I just found out the legendary TV host, Dick Clark (American Bandstand) passed away. My prayers go out to his family. He lived an awesome life.

Where The Heck Have You Been Mello?

Whassup Peeps?

It's been nearly 4 months since I posted any kind of blog. A lot has been happening in my world too. I've been working like a dog at my 9 to 5 (really its actually 6 to 6) and since I got a new addition coming to the family (yippie!), I cut some things out of my life to make room for more good.

First off, I cut off anything I was using that was NOT making enough money to pay for itself. I had some web hosting and an auto-responder service that I was using and I clipped both of them because I was getting a negative ROI (Return on Investment). I realized way to late that I was paying to much for these services and although they were making me some money, it was not enough for me to keep funneling hard earned funds into the mouth of a dead horse.

I weighed this decision in my mind over and over for months and I realized I was just giving away money.

So I cut them off...

We'll I realized in my cutting things off I cut some other things off unexpectedly but those can be fixed.

What I really missed though is writing about music. I missed writing the articles and posting on this blog. Even if I wasn't making any music, these things allowed me to at least be creative so that my mind wouldn't turn into mush.

And I do know that people read my work and they find value in what I do. I missed that feeling of helping my music industry peers so I'm re-committing myself (...again!) to daily postings, even if its commenting on someone else's article or blog post.

Also, I've been looking at things that waste my precious time I can't get back and eliminating these things. Time-wasters like surfing the web, checking emails and answering random calls have been taking away my focus and I could be doing something more useful with limited time on this planet...like writing articles, blogging, making beats, going to the studio, traveling to new places and a million other things that excite me.

Anyway, I'm out. Gotta go back to the less exciting 6 to 6.

Holla!!!
